Climbing For Lost Linemen
Each June, on the eve of their annual Rodeo, NSUJL and Climbing For Lost Linemen hold a ceremony honoring all brothers who lost their lives on the line during the prior 12 months.
The ceremony takes place at dusk and is a tribute that cannot be described in words – but by the chills and tears on the faces of our fellow brothers and sisters. A lantern is raised with each fallen brother’s name etched on it, as a brother climbs the pole to hang it and light the candle within. A moment of silence then takes place in the honoree’s memory. This event is by far the most symbolic of all we do, and why we do it.
If you would like to honor a fallen lineman please download and mail in the 2021 Honoree Form. Or, click here to submit an Honoree form online.
At the conclusion of the Rodeo, Lanterns are then given and/or mailed to the families of those honored.
